Transfer news: Defoe to Rangers

Celtic have some serious ground to make up in the transfer market if they are to keep up with rivals Rangers after they secured a loan deal for Jermain Defoe.
That is the verdict of Hoops legend Chris Sutton.
Gers boss Steven Gerrard agreed a deal with Bournemouth to bring England striker Defoe to Glasgow this afternoon.
He will join the illustrious SPFL club on an 18-month loan deal, although Cherries boss Eddie Howe has the option to recall him either this summer or in January 2020.
Brendan Rodgers men currently sit top of the league on goal difference, but they are yet to delve into the transfer market this month.
However, former Chelsea and Celtic striker Sutton believes his former side risk being left in the dust if they don’t act fast.
He tweeted: “Defoe to Rangers is a game changer... Celtic need to get their finger out…”
