Ronaldo scored twice to give Juventus a dramatic 2-1 win over Sampdoria to break 20-year record
Cristiano Ronaldo and breaking records go hand in hand, so it comes as no surprise that he has got another one.
The Juventus superstar has become the highest ever Portuguese scorer in a single Serie A season after netting twice in a 2-1 win over Sampdoria.
Ronaldo equalled the record after only two minutes when he collected the ball from Paulo Dybala and curled it past Sampdoria keeper Audero.
Sampdoria made it 1-1 when Fabio Quagliarella scored from the penalty spot after Emre Can handballed in the area.
On 65 minutes, Juventus were awarded a penalty and Ronaldo stepped up to convert his second of the match – and Juve’s 100th in all competitions in 2018.
It means the 33-year-old now has 13 league goals this season and has overtaken Rui Barrios’ 12-goal haul, also for Juventus, in the 1988-89 campaign, despite half of the season remaining.
